Leaf Textures

The respiratory organs of trees are gifts that yield interesting subjects at any time of year. I really enjoy shooting these. While the results are quite abstract, enough of the natural structures are evident (at least to me), to convey the reality of the subject and its purpose. I think because of their ubiquity, people often dismiss the vital respiratory functions of the leaves we rake every year, or in our deforestation efforts around the world. We taken everything for granted so long we’ve nearly taken everything.
