A Visual Ode to Odonata

Dragonflies and damselflies. They’re vicious and swift, beautiful predators whose hit rates of taking bugs on the wing exceed the accuracy of our best human fighter pilots. They must be absolutely terrifying to anything smaller than them that is capable of perceiving them in time to react. Aesthetically, what more could we ask for? They come in every colour on the spectrum, and various Earth tones. Incredible diversity.

Below are three galleries. The first contains focus stacked micros of road killed dragonflies. The second gallery contains a selection of damselflies I photographed during the summer of 2018, and the final gallery has assorted older snapshots along with a few macros.
