Eyes of Flies, Moths, Grasshoppers and More.

There are few natural structures more fascinating to us than eyes. I think this is because there are few reminders as difficult to deny that other people and animals really do exist, think, feel, and suffer. We both want to understand, and to shut out that which we find unacceptable – regardless of its reality. By perceiving eyes as beautiful things we’ve trained ourselves to drug ourselves with emotions designed to reinforce our common denials. Sometimes these are the kinds of thoughts I consider while taking these pictures. I’m in the habit of having my editor open for note taking during the process, but my notes are rarely strictly relevant to my subjects in physicality.
